The moment I stepped inside this house steeped in history for the first time, I knew I never wanted to leave. The large, imposing entrance hall, the rooms bathed in sunlight and the many authentic features… I saw it as a challenge to breathe new life into the house – like a Sleeping Beauty who needed to be lovingly awakened. Two major renovations later, we have succeeded in that endeavour.
You immediately sense that this house is an invitation to house a collection of art and books. An added bonus: because the property is so large, there’s even room for a wonderful studio. The French atmosphere of the house reminds me of Paris, the city I love to visit so often.
The garden, too, was a blank canvas at first, but the complete privacy made it a very attractive spot. I turned it into an ecological ‘jardin secret’, which fits in with the atmosphere and spirit of the house. For years now, the local flora and fauna have been thriving here, with daily visits from squirrels and birds – it’s lovely. I created various spots where one can enjoy all of this in peace and quiet.
The house and garden deserve people who will cherish all this just as much as I always have, so that I can leave it behind with peace of mind. In any case, a bright future awaits the new owners here.
